OUR STORY-  At approximately 1 AM on June 30th Meagan began having some light contractions.  They were spaced about 8 minutes apart and really didn't hurt much at all.  We had gone through an episode of false contractions before, and thought these might be the same thing.  They were enough, however, to keep both of us awake, paying attention.  By approximately 3 AM the contractions were about five minutes apart and getting painful.  By 5 AM we were in the Assessment Center down at the SWMC.  They determined our labor was the real thing and assigned us a room.  By 9 AM the contractions were about 2 minutes apart and unbearable for Meagan.  By 10 AM the epidural was in place, and Meagan drifted into medicated bliss.  She could feel 'pressure' during the contractions, but no pain.  Since we had no sleep the night before, we opted for rest as we were sure we would need it in the upcoming hours.  By evening, Meagan was full on 'pushing' and laboring intensly.  At 11:13 PM, Melia took her first breath of air and we all let out a huge sigh of relief.  Miracles DO happen.
